Randoms & Happy Weekend

This week flew by for us! The husband's team lost last week, and unfortunately they did not make the playoffs. This is the first Friday in a long time that I don't have a football game to attend. No more football means he suddenly has a lot more time on his hands– and don't worry, I've prepared a long honey-do list!

I can't believe Thanksgiving is almost here. Can you believe it? We're having a low-key Thanksgiving at home, and my parents are coming to visit. When you're only cooking for four people, it's not that big of an ordeal (thankfully, since I'm not great in the kitchen). We order an AMAZING turkey from Hard 8 BBQ and make the rest of the meal ourselves. If you're in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and want to cater your Thanksgiving turkey, I highly recommend Hard 8!

Are you taking time to give thanks this year? This is our marriage verse and I think about it year-round, but it's perfect and poignant for the holiday season.

This is my new go-to work hairstyle, and it takes less than a minute. Put your hair half up, and then make that half-up portion into a topsy-tail. I didn't take pictures of that part, but luckily Real Simple has a 3-picture slideshow tutorial for you (without using the silly Topsy Tail tool). Then you take the rest of your hair and fasten it into a bun. It looks like you put some effort into your hair, but you really didn't! As someone who does not like to put effort into her hair, this is the best solution I've come up with so far.

I need some opinions. Should I paint these planters by our front door? And if so, what color?

I've been thinking about this one for weeks... let me know what you would do!

* Happy Friday! *

  1. Easy and chic hairstyle, I'm going to try tomorrow.

    I'd paint the planters black to tie into the door and shutters. I'm assuming the shutters are black, right? Something to make them stand out against the bricks.

  2. Yes! Paint the planters! I think matching the door color would make them stand out. Of course you could always go a little far out and pick a color opposite of the door color, like a red tone. I guess it depends on how adventurous you want to be. :)

  3. I agree with the other comments...black would look really good and I actually kind of liked Danielle's thought on red...:)
    Oh and totall jealous of your Hard 8 turkey!
    We are hosting dinner at our house (18 including kids)! Everyone is bringing something to contribute so shouldn't be too overwhelming but we will see!!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. My vote is to be adventurous with a paint color. Black would look good but you can always paint them black later. :)
