Randoms & Happy Weekend

Hooray for Friday!

The husband's football team has their first scrimmage tonight and first game next Friday. We are officially busy with football events, and I love it!

I'm back with another Pinterest recipe I tried this week. Two thumbs up for this one!

Slow Cooker Green Chile Pork Tacos
This recipe is super simple and tastes delicious. The grocery stores around here are all selling Hatch green chile right now, so this is the perfect time to make it. (Of course you don't have to have fresh green chile– a can of green chile sauce works just fine.)

I have been tracking my calorie intake via the MyFitnessPal app for the past three weeks, and I'm down 3 lbs so far. The best part is that I'm becoming super aware of what I'm eating and putting much more thought into the nutritional value of what I'm putting in my mouth. My best friend is doing it with me, and we've both discovered we eat too many carbs and not enough protein. I'm out to right the ship next week!

While we're on the subject of food, I wanted to share this super simple recipe. These bacon cocktail weenies are man-approved and always a hit at parties. I made them for a Super Bowl party a couple years ago, and they keep getting requested ever since. In fact, I made a bunch of them for the husband to take to the football office this week during these brutal two-a-days hours they are working right now and they were gone very, very quickly.

If you want to make them slightly healthier, you can try turkey sausage and turkey bacon. We did it that way this week and while I would say they weren't quite as delicious as the original, they were still darn good.

I'm pretty in love with this site, cu-te-ta-pe. There is a lot of cuteness to behold here.

For example, $6 for a pack of 24 5x7 chevron favor bags for your next party. They come in every color combination you can think of, and patterns range from chevron to polka dots to stripes and solids.

While you're at it, pick up 25 retro paper straws for $4. These straws would bring instant personality to your drink. I want some right now!

cu-te-ta-pe also sells all colors and patterns of Japanese washi tape, cute stationery, cupcake liners, rubber stamps, stickers, bakers twine and more. Check it out!

Do you have a fun weekend planned? Our should be pretty low key. We're resting up before the full craziness of football season and school hits us with full force next week.
