Roomspiration: Living Room Tour

The living room has been getting a lot of little tweaks lately, and it's starting to feel warm and yummy, like pumpkin pie. Oh man, I love pumpkin pie.

Anyway, I wanted to share a living room tour with you today, and I'm linking up to the living room party over at the Roomspiration blog party. I also linked up the new, manly guest bath and the hot pink master bath, too. I'm a linking machine!

Let's take a tour of our apple cider living room, shall we? It's our favorite place in the house, and we love spending time in this all-purpose room.

This living room has really come a long way since we moved in about 15 months ago. Flashback time!

That picture above was taken when we were touring the house the first time. It's hard to see, but it was already a cute space. I wanted to brighten it up and make it more functional for us.

We've swapped out the carpet for awesome resilient vinyl floors that look like wood (79 cents per square foot at Lumber Liquidators), which has made a huge difference in the space. Dogs + carpet = bad, so we knew we had to get rid of that right away. The previous owner had cats, and we didn't feel like the cat smell was gone until we chucked that carpet!

Funny story: Scott was helping the trash guys load our carpet rejects one day, and they said they thought we had a construction business because we put so much "home trash" out by the curb for them to pick up. Nope, we just like ripping out carpet and linoleum. Who doesn't?

We added a mantle to the fireplace, which was the simplest project ever. The brass ceiling fan had to go, so we added a new oil-rubbed bronze beauty that gave the ceiling a facelift. The ceiling fan absolutely had to have lights because this room had no light sources except for a small spotlight on the fireplace. Way too dark for my taste!

We're not done in this space, but we do love how it looks for now. We have plans to paint the walls and trim brighter colors so the room looks bigger, but we have to work up our painting stamina before we tackle a project that big. We're talking about resurfacing the fireplace eventually, possibly with stacked stone. That will be awesome...

Here's a source list for the lovely living room:

Missoni for Target update: I read online that some stores would be restocking later this week, so I swung by the store on my lunch break today. They did have a few more items, including some throw pillows, picture frames and girls clothing. I managed to find two little items that I brought home with me, these awesome clips and a set of journals. I don't see these online, so maybe they are only carried in store.

Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend? The hubs has a bye week, so no football game for me tonight! We're going to spend some time prepping the guest room for my best friend's arrival, hopefully laying down the new floors tomorrow. She arrives in two weeks, so we need to get rolling on that room!

* Happy Weekend *
